In the latest study, however, we deliberately set out to explore how much religious mixing takes place in American families and whether it is on the rise. So we asked respondents a series of questions about the religion of the main people who raised them including, in some cases, not just parents but also step-parents, grandparents, foster parents, etc.
We also asked all respondents, explicitly, whether they think of themselves as having been raised in more than one religion, or if they now belong to more than one religion. If they said yes to either question, we posed an open-ended follow-up question, asking them to explain further. Specific explanations people in this category give include taking the view that all religions are essentially the same and attending different kinds of houses of worship.
Fewer say their blended religious identity is due to changing religions or churches or to having family members of different religions. Fresh data delivered Saturday mornings.
It organizes the public into nine distinct groups, based on an analysis of their attitudes and values. Even in a polarized era, the survey reveals deep divisions in both partisan coalitions.
Use this tool to compare the groups on some key topics and their demographics. Adhering to multiple belief systems would not be possible, as it would render one into a state of conflict.
Although many religions contain similar truths, they conflict with one another in beliefs and practices. For instance, if one were to adhere to the religion of Islam, and then adhere to Christianity at the same time, both religious beliefs which conflict with one another because of the absolute truths they both propose. In Islam, a believer is to believe in a totally transcendent deity, who, because of his total transcendence and absolute unity, could never exist as a complex unity.
On the contrary, Christianity teaches that God is absolute one, yet the Divinity exists as three "persons": the Father, the Spirit, and the Holy Spirit. The God of the Christians is understood as being one in His nature divine , which exists in an absolute tri-unity.
Such a beliefs would be absolutely contrary to Islam. Therefore, one who claims to believe and adhere to both religions simultaneously, would be contradicting in his or her beliefs.
What it all comes back to is absolute truth. One who claims that "all paths lead to God" is claiming that all truths are equal and merely relative i. However, to make such a claim is the assertion of an absolute truth that there are no absolute truths. Truth is not just a subjective thought or idea. Truth is a Person. Truth is God. All religions have the same basic goal: union with the Divine.
However, God did this in the most intimate way, by humbling Himself -the Creator of all- by taking on flesh and becoming a man, and yet remaining God. Through Christ's incarnation, He has created a bridge, a unity, a communion between God and man.

History reveals that even bloody wars aimed at such unification fail sooner or later. The ever-changing "unified field" of Buddhism's "vast emptiness" or "consciousness-only" could be termed "God" as long as it's understood it's an expedient term, not an actual transcendent God Suzuki.
Buddhist enlightenment discovers interconnected worlds, where all entities are real but temporary, ultimately rejoining the changing universe of "many possibilities.
God loves all people, regardless of which religion they choose or if they choose religion. God has given everyone agency to choose their path. He invites all to become better, more like him. When religions help people become more like God, they bless lives.
All good things come from God: "Whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good I am the light, and the life, and the truth of the world. While historians and sociologists are better trained than I to explain why there are many religions, I offer this: God sends prophets to deliver his message.
When people reject his prophets or when prophets are lost, people lose direction. Each religion emphasizes a slightly different aspect of the path toward the holy one. The Baal Shem Tov says everyone has their own spiritual journey and their own unique contribution to make in the world.
One spiritual path does not fit all. Today, it's possible to choose the religion that's nearest to your heart — the one that fits you. Judaism does not say it's the only path to G-d.
In fact, people are not encouraged to convert to Judaism. For someone interested in converting, he or she is often encouraged to remain in his or her religion and become better at that. In acknowledging the value of many paths, our sages note, "All the righteous have a share in the world to come. Perhaps many religions exist because G-d is interested in having us learn from each other. People weren't created just to live on Earth and disappear after death, but to live eternally with God.
This produces within each of us a desire for what's good and eternal. But this desire can't be satisfied with the good things of this world, only God's grace can quench our thirst.
Some people, having realized that no one will ever find true happiness and perfect prosperity without God or outside God, seek to find him in spiritual ways according to their particular abilities. This is one reason that we've generated many different religions and ideas of God. But the heart of man, whoever he is, can be fully satisfied only by God's love, and only God's direct action can fill the heart and soul of man and quench the thirst of his desires.
For this, Jesus Christ has come to show us God's love and how to get it. A good friend taught me this important prayer: "Thank you that you are God and I am not! A corollary of this idea is that I know that I am wrong. That is a rather stark way of saying that only God knows the complete truth without error or misunderstanding; I don't.
My faith and my beliefs about God serve me well. My Christian testimony is about what my faith in God means to me and about what Jesus has done for me.
