If there is a sign of water damage you can use methylated spirits and toothbrush to clean out the circuit board. Sometimes I have washed the circuitboard with soapy warm water, good rinse after that and drying with a hair dryer. I would not recommend the same treatment for you cellphone as some components do not like water. Use a smal bowl or similar to wash and contain all the parts so you don't lose bits down the drain.
Use old toothbrush to clean all button holes and buttons. Warm water with dishwash liquid does the job. Take particular care with those small buttons and clean them properly. If you can leave the bits to soak overnight they come clean easy. Ultrasonic cleaner would be good for this job but most people do not have one in their cupboard. Rinse with warm water.
Use a drainer to contain all the parts without losing small bits down the drain. As extra security use sink plug. Dry with a paper towel. Wipe the buttons dry individually as they may still have some dirt which makes them sticky when in use. If there is damage to the case or buttons you need to do the required repairs. Use hot glue or super glue depending on fault. Let dry overnight if you had to glue something. Re-assemble bits in reverse order and make sure you have the buttons in right place and right way around.
Small nicks and dents on plastic cover can often be repaired by heating carefully with a hair dryer. Do not use a lighter with a flame as it is too easy to burn the plastic. May be you can get rid of some dog bite marks on the remote if they are not too deep? Make sure you get the polarity right or you need to get another one.
Test every button as before. Sometimes you have to push two remote buttons simultaneously as with recording buttons on my Panasonic VCR. Once you have completed test with your camera you can use the remote. Thats it, I hope you got it going again? I have checked and replaced the batteries. Why they have troubled in same time? Question 1 year ago on Step 1. On my remote, the light is on before pressing the buttons and goes out when I press any button.
Is that how it should be? Also the light on the TV is flashing when the remote doesn't work. What does that indicate. I've already cleaned the remote and tested the batteries. Answer 1 year ago. That is not right. Try pointing the remote to a digital camera as instructed.

Just started happening. We have to manually turn the TV on with the button on the TV. We took the batteries out, changed them, unplugged the TV, waited. Nothing is blocking the sensor. Just will not turn it on. I have checked the batteries to make sure they work and they do. What can I do? Is it something with my tv? The Hisense remote does not control the tv. Pushing the buttons may get a response but then the channels switch multiple times or the volume increases or decreases dramatically.
Tried the remote on another Hisense tv in another room and it works fine on that other tv. This tells me that it is not the remote that is bad but something wrong with the tv. I just bought a jvc-LTEC yesterday. My remote is not working today.
I changed the batteries. I unplugged it and left it unplugged for 10 minutes. Still nothing. I have an Element television and remote. It is about a year old now. As of today, the remote stopped responding; except the on and off power button works. It is the only button that works. As suggested I removed the batteries; pressed and held for 3 seconds each button.
I put in new batteries and tried the remote again. I cannot change the channels; control the volume or number buttons. Any ideas fro this problem? If I buy a new remote; will that fix it?

My tv remote not working after installation itself. Please help me to resolve this. Our Sony XBR75XD just stopped responding to the original remote as well as the cable remote programmed to control it.
The cable remote works fine on the cable box, and the original remote triggers an IR sensor on a power-saver bar, which leads me to think that both remotes are ok. I have superficially cleaned the front bottom part of the tv but the issue remains. Remote sensor on TV has worked intermittently, but now seems to have failed after reset with remote not responding. Have 2 remotes, both tested with phone camera and working. So the sensor side seems to be the problem. Can you confirm or help with recovery?
