Skywalker ranch where is it

The land encompasses 4, acres with only 15 acres of it has been developed. They have worked on over films and television shows and their facilities are over , square feet. It is said to be equipped with the most advance sound system in the world. The man-made lake near Skywalker Sound is called Lake Ewok.

Lucas has the largest collection of vintage foreign cinema posters in the world. All framed, archived and preserved. Continental breakfast is provided daily. Arrangements can be made for a catered, delivered, or self-cooked dinner, or guests can explore the diverse selection of excellent restaurants in Marin County and San Francisco.

While staying at Skywalker Ranch, guests are welcome to use the Fitness Center and shop at the General Store for souvenirs such as Skywalker Ranch wine, honey, olive oil, and clothing. Bicycles are available for transportation around the Ranch. Let history record that Star Wars would not exist had this self-described history buff rewritten his own prequeland pursued his original fantasy.

Nevertheless, on a 2,acre former dairy ranch protected by its own fire department and subtly hidden in a secluded valley behind rhythmic hills, George Lucas has finally been able to unlock his inner Stickley. In a very real sense, this cinematic reverie of sunsplashed verandas, rock fireplaces and stained-glass windows represents Lucas's personal Arts and Crafts Movement, far away from the Hollywood he has forsworn.

It's just a much more friendly atmosphere, more comfortable and calming. I wanted a nice, quiet place to come up with ideas, because, really, we're in the ideas business.

So when I got the opportunity and the wherewithal to do it, I thought, Well, I'm going to do it myself. The ranch, a complex of 14 buildings presided over by a sprawling, turreted, creamy-white Victorian-style house, is the headquarters of key components of the Lucas empire, most notably Skywalker Sound, a groundbreaking postproduction facility masquerading as a brick winery swaddled in ivy. A world within a world with some employees, the ranch includes a bed-and-breakfast guest complex for visitors to Skywalker's famous soundstages and postproduction studios— people like directors James Cameron, Philip Kaufman and Clint Eastwood.

It also has three restaurants, a health club with yoga and Pilates classes, a seven-acre olive grove, a seat theater, an organic garden inspired by Alice Waters and, for added pastoral effect, horses, goats, chickens, a herd of Texas longhorns and a Vietnamese potbellied pig named Betty Boop.

Like Lucas's films, which blend real and imaginary landscapes, Skywalker Ranch is a visual sleight-of-hand, a brand-new concoction cunningly designed to look as if it had always been there. Aside from a chosen list, few press and no uninvited guests have ever been allowed onto the property. Some reports claim that security must constantly turn back trespassers, who will sometimes hike miles to try and sneak onto the property.

With the release of the latest Indiana Jones film in , buses have arrived at the property carrying hopeful fans, but none have been allowed on the land. The ranch includes a Victorian style main house, which is used for offices and business and houses a large collection of film memorabilia. Despite several clusters of buildings, Skywalker Ranch remains primarily undeveloped, with wide spaces conducive to the beautiful landscape and wildlife native to the area.
