Just stay home so he can be with his sweetheart all the time, always. The lack of a tan on his ring finger, is definitely a reference to wearing a wedding ring.

And its a little joke because, again from his other songs, he doesn't tan anyway, he just burns. That first verse is so heavy, but he likes to keep his songs light. He lightens up the tone of the song by ending with the reference to a fun bubble bath. All the rest of the song is simply favorite memories of times the two of them spent together, and with family, over the years, through all of the seasons, they've been together. Even though the relationship is over, he speaks quite bit in the present tense because he wants to continue holding her, keep her warm, when she needs it.

But his voice cracks in pain when sings this line because he realizes that she's not going to stay the same, just for him. He's having a very difficult time accepting the fact that the relationship is over and both of them have to move on.

At the end of the song he speaks in the past tense in an attempt to accept the fact that the relationship is over. But he'll always remember that she was the one who woke him up, to love. Brings tears to my eyes, and I hardly ever cry!
