Who is heart of obsidian about

Her labyrinth is fascinating, automatically resetting itself which breaks her line of thought and prevents anyone from gaining access to her mind. Great Concept!! I looked forward to the labyrinth winding its way thru the story ha! But, no — Sahara solves its riddle by page 38 faster than Theseus! Kaleb and Sahara have some smexy times during which he starts earthquakes and destroys furniture and windows when they get it on, like you do , but she wants to go home and visit the fam finally, right??

She is kidnapped again and uses her special gift against her kidnapper. This helps her realize that she can use her gift and keep it under control. With that, we start meshing the world storyline with that of our two lovers.

As the storylines merge, Pure Psy, those evil minions, step up their violent actions, bombing the innocent and requiring all three species to act together to stop them — Kaleb leads the Psy contingent, not because it is right, but because he wants to been seen by the Psy as their only option for leadership. The PsyNet continues to destabilize, losing portions that kill all Psy in that area — Silence is falling. Kaleb saves the day for the Psy and shows his colorful bond with Sahara to the entire PsyNet to inspire them — wait a sec, a bond??

Like the ones Changelings have with their mates??? But these two are Psy??? This act leads me to the one big, enlightening thump on the head regarding this series that has taken me a very long time to verbalize — it so sucks to be human in this world. No bonds for you, puny human! There were lots of flashback interruptions but while I enjoyed them, I also saw them more of a convenient excuse as to how Sahara overcame the impact of seven years of torture in a snap.

I ended up being very Psy about this book, except for the story of what was happening out in the world away from our two lovers. That world story, on the other hand, did build very nicely and made me gasp and cry, but in a good way and ended up balancing the final score.

By: Nalini Singh. Awakening wounded in a darkened cell, their psychic abilities blocked, Aden and Zaira know they must escape. But when the lethal soldiers break free from their mysterious prison, they find themselves in a harsh, inhospitable landscape far from civilization.

And they must survive. A shadowy enemy has put a target on the back of the Arrow squad - an enemy that cannot be permitted to succeed in its deadly campaign. Alpha and dangerous, he compels her to madness. Hawke is used to walking alone, having lost the woman who would've been his mate long ago. But Sienna fascinates the primal heart of him, even as he tells himself she is far too young to handle the wild fury of the wolf.

Adria, wolf changeling and resilient soldier, has made a break with the past-one as unpredictable in love as it was in war. Now comes a new territory, and a devastating new complication: Riaz, a SnowDancer lieutenant already sworn to a desperate woman who belongs to another. For Riaz, the primal attraction he feels for Adria is a staggering betrayal.

For Adria, his dangerous lone wolf appeal is beyond sexual. It consumes her. It terrifies her. It threatens to undermine everything she has built of her new life. The Trinity Accord promises a new era of cooperation between disparate races and groups.

It is a beacon of hope held together by many hands: old enemies, new allies, and wary loners. But a century of distrust and suspicion can't be so easily forgotten and threatens to shatter Trinity from within at any moment.

In his position as Tracker for the SnowDancer pack, Drew Kincaid must rein in rogue Changelings who've lost control of their animal halves - even if it means killing those who've gone too far. But nothing in his life has prepared him for the battle he must now wage - to win the heart of a woman who makes his body ignite Dev Santos finds a woman with amnesia - and all she can remember is that she's dangerous.

Stripped of her memories by a shadowy oppressor and programmed to kill, Katya's only hope is Dev. But he could very well be her next target. When a brilliant young researcher is kidnapped, DarkRiver sentinel Mercy, a cat, and SnowDancer lieutenant Riley, a wolf, must work together to track the young man - before his shadowy captors decide he's no longer useful.

Along the way, the two dominants may find that submitting to one another uncovers not just a deadly conspiracy, but a passion so raw that it'll leave them both branded by fire. Clay Bennett is a powerful DarkRiver sentinel, but he grew up in the slums with his human mother, never knowing his changeling father. As a young boy without the bonds of Pack, he tried to stifle his animal nature. He failed Everything good in him died the day he was told that she, too, was dead. Brenna, a she-wolf Psy, was abducted by a serial killer - and returned a monster.

The only person who can help her is Judd, a telekinetic and Council defector. But the passion burning between them could push them both over the edge of sanity in the third installment in Singh's breathtaking Psy-Changeling series.

Separated from her son and forced to create a neural implant that will mean the effective enslavement of her psychically gifted race, Ashaya Aleine is the perfect Psy: cool, calm, emotionless Max Shannon is a good cop, one of the best in New York Enforcement. Born with a natural shield that protects him against Psy mental invasions, he knows he has little chance of advancement within the Psy-dominated power structure. The last case he expects to be assigned is that of a murderer targeting a Psy Councilor's closest advisors.

And the last woman he expects to compel him in the most sensual of ways is a Psy on the verge of a catastrophic mental fracture. Bowen Knight has come back from the dead. But there's a ticking time bomb in his head: a chip implanted to block telepathic interference that could fail at any moment - taking his brain along with it.

With no time to waste, he should be back on land helping the Human Alliance. Instead, he's at the bottom of the ocean, consumed with an enigmatic changeling Kaia Luna may have traded in science for being a chef, but she won't hide the facts of Bo's condition from him or herself.

The end of Silence was supposed to create a better world for future generations. But trust is broken, and the alliance between Psy, Changeling, and human is thin.

The problems that led to Silence are back in full force. Because Silence fixed nothing, just hid the problems. This time, the Psy have to find a real answer to their problems - if one exists. Or their race will soon go extinct in a cascade of violence. The answer begins with an empath who is attuned to monsters - and who is going to charm a wolf into loving her despite his own demons. Hailed as a major talent in paranormal romance, Nalini Singh takes us deeper into the world of the Psy and the changelings in her latest extraordinary novel, where a gifted woman sees passion in her futurea passion that is absolutely forbidden by her kind.

In danger from the Psy, Faith NightStar's fragile sanity will be tested by an all-consuming passion for a changeling who can take the form of man or jaguar. In "Beat of Temptation", innocent Tamsyn has always had a place in her heart for Nathan, a blooded DarkRiver sentinel.

But is she ready for the fierce demands of the mating bond? In "Stroke of Enticement", a wary young teacher, skeptical about love, arouses the man - and the animal - in an aggressive leopard changeling who must prove his affections are true.

Nalini Singh dives into a world torn apart by a powerful race with phenomenal powers of the mind - and none of the heart. Born a Psy, Sascha Duncan must hide the emotions that mark her as flawed. But a passionate Changeling will tempt her to reveal everything - and risk her very soul. In , Nalini Singh introduced the beguiling and sensual Psy-Changeling world in Slave to Sensation, which spawned a series that has had readers and critics cheering. Throughout the incredible book run there has been one question that has tantalized Nalini's legion of fans.

Now, in the eagerly awaited 12th book in the series, Nalini Singh finally reveals the answer to the biggest Psy-Changeling mystery - an answer so surprising we wouldn't dare spoil it. Even if we knew. Tired of listening to stories about humans? Consider the werewolf! Taking various forms over the course of centuries and mythologies, often as flesh-devourers, they now commonly appear in fantasy novels as shape-shifters. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to continuing with the series - I need to know what happens with Silence!!!

I really didn't expect what I read, it surprised me at how something that was impossible could still be possible. Had me thinking no matter how broken, lost or unrecoverable a person can be, they should never give up in the face of love. His own hand was big, warm against her cheek as he cupped her jaw.

It was highly emotional and heartwarming to be apart of their journey at finding their lost love. Its so heartbreaking to have to go through such torture and sacrifices, just to be with the one you love, the one you only exist for, the one that holds you back from truly losing your humanity. To feel so much love for someone that you'd destroy everything, even yourself, for just the thought of losing them.

All she wanted to do was strip herself to the skin and wrap herself around him so close that nothing could ever separate them again. Feeling their loses and gains as if they were my own, had me rooting for their well deserved HEA. You're mine," Simple quiet words that were a punch to the chest.

It's perfect! Nalini always writes amazing, heart-wrenching stories, but this I was caught from the begining, through the end: I cried a lot, I have the headache to prove it:D , I laughed, I was in awe Me, at the beginning of the book: please be awesome. After not liking the last two jerks male love-interests in these books, I finally got a pay-off for continuing on!

His story was worth the wait. Kind of. In this book we have a psy couple who were close during childhood until she was kidnapped at 16, and tortured for 7 years. He searched for her for all of those years and finally frees her early in the book. But, her memories are gone and she is just a bit screwed up. Imagine that! She Yes! She had held on for all of those years because of his last words to her: "I'll come for you!

But, he was broken too. He had been so horribly abused by a monster that he almost became a monster himself. Her love might be the only thing that can save him. And, if he goes down, he'll take the world with him. Which seems perfectly reasonable to me. That's how I want to go too. Definitely my fav of the series. With the identity of the hero and heroine kept under wraps until the book was released, readers have been on edge with anticipation as speculations reached a whirlwind of activity. Singh had a major challenge on her hands. The big reveal could either blow readers away with her ingenious plan or it could become a major disappoint. A master of lyrical words and quiet, but intense emotions, Singh pens an epic masterpiece with the latest installment to the series.

Readers will be floored not only by the reveal of the characters, but also by its lyrical detail and its heart-stopping emotions. Attention to detail is what Singh prevails in. Each page, each word is necessary in building a vivid, dramatic picture.

The main characters are hauntingly real and claw into your heart with their broken pasts. I felt that Singh poured her whole soul into the pages of this book. You can feel her heartbeats pulsing on the page. Passion on this level cannot be easily redone or replicated. Only Singh holds that power to blend lethal power and restrained passion and make it work. Reviewed for Fresh Fiction This book was so awesome. It's definitely in my top 3 in the series.

Since I enjoyed this system on my previous review I will use it again to make clear what I like about this book the most! The hero What can I say about the "Obsidian" male?

He is definitely in This book was so awesome. He is definitely in my top ten list of book heroes as of now.

He is sexy, powerful, ruthless and loyal to a single woman. For her he would destroy the world literally but for her he would also save it. His love for the heroine doesn't make him "soft", just makes him think hard before being doing something bad! I have a think for anti-heros and bad boys and he is certainly both but the heroine gives him a conciense or more accurately she IS his consciense.

I am tempted to fight Ang for rights over him. The heroine Now the heroine was the best thing in this book. She was beyond the good mark. The girl was such a beautiful surprise. After being imprisoned for 7 years and treated like an animal she has the strength to go on with her life, to be thankful for the things she got back, to forgive the ones who harmed her, to dance with the most frightening man in the world.

I respect her strength of character and loved the fact that she didn't have one whiny comment, one self-pitying instant. She was exactly what I like in my heroines, gutsy, brave, forgiving, compassionate and so damn strong. I would recommend this book to everyone just based on her. The story was nice. Especially the romance related stuff. I enjoyed how their love grew and developed over the years and how they never lost their faith in each other even when the heroine couldn't remember anything of her life.

Such a beautiful love story! The plot in general was interesting. I liked the hero's displays of power and the way the heroines good nature made him a better person. I kind of liked the way the "war" progressed view spoiler [and the Pure Psy were defeated although I wanted Vasquez to suffer more muaha haha.

Nalini Singh has proven many times that she knows how to write an arresting book and this is one of her best. This book is definitely a 5 and I certainly forget many things I wanted to adress in my review but for now that's all! I have so much respect for the heroine. The second time only added to it. And the hero gets more sexy every time Shelves: anti-hero , steamy , there-are-hot-men , reviewed , make-me-nosebleed , friend-turn-to-lover , virgin-hero , stubborn-chara , paranormal-romance , ren-blog-review.

Firstm, I'm so ashamed to admit that recently I'm so hot headed, so stubborn for delaying to read Heart of Obsidian. Because I'm so pissed off when reading any spoiler about who The Ghost was and it spoiled my excitement when the book finally come in my hand.

But then, after reading, I keep in my mind that the core of Heart of Obsidian was not who is The Ghost? Heart of Obsidian is a story about two lost souls, two wounded hearts, two broken human beings who finally pass their obstacles and do not want to give up into each other. A story about a dual cardinal Psy and also Councilor with eyes so dark like a midnight sky named Kaleb Krychek and a woman who will make him destroy the world just to see her happy, Sahara Kyriakus.

This book started so slow, and the mystery is too deep, make me confused and frustated to know what exactly going on between that two. I also deeply disturbed by Kaleb's behavior to Sahara in the first part. His dominance make me scream, make me "I don't want to read another alpha male that do not respect the heroine!

Yet, as the story unraveled, as we venture deep into Kaleb and Sahara's relationship and their past, all his demeanor and Sahara's act to him made sense. Made me understand Kaleb, a broken man with broken mind and soul, yet still fight for what he considered as his. Sahara too, not a damsel in distress.

She seems so weak at first because of her captivity, yet in the end she show her strength. I applause Nalini for handled this sensitive for me! Oh, did I forget to tell you that Nalini's prose and words are so beautiful, sometimes it make your heart ache? That's what happen to me after read Heart of Obsidian. While Kaleb and Sahara's revelation of love sometimes can be too cheesy and over the top, sometimes I ached for them both.

I'm jealous for Sahara, for have a man that soooo devoted to her. That Kaleb not hesitant to bring the world to its ending, tear it apart, if anything bad happen to her. Such a loyalty! Such a quality that I rarely found in romance novels that had so many overused theme, if you get my meaning. Buy your copy, or borrow it in library. If you already had it, don't make mistake like me. To neglect this book and missed a beautiful love story. I know that this book deserve it. Another keeper for sure!

For my early opinion and guess about this book, you can see it in this spoiler. I also refuse to read the first review of HoO posted in Goodreads, since it's way to kill my joy to read the book unspoiled. Also resist to read any Nalini Singh's interview on the blog world about this book. Yep, I'm stubborn like that, lol! But today, I can't finally resist to follow The Ghost hijacking Nalini Singh's twitter, answer some question about him.

I believe he do it unwillingly and still full of secrecy. This is what I gather from his? The relative is male. He will not answer further question about his lineage. He will not betray Judd and Xavier awww! Depend on how we see him I will not shocked! Since Ghost said, that man know who exactly he is. He also avoid question about Arrow - The Ghost have touchy feeling about marriage lol!

He never had sex, but it's a tool he will use if necessary. Now I will imagine Benedict Cumberbatch as Ghost. Yess, he will be perfect Ghost! Somebody, please bribe Nalini with chocolate or something sweet so she will spill some secret on this book.

Cover and title revealed! Why its Ghost? There's some passage from Kiss of Snow that mention about "Obsidian" thanks, Lulu! Created by the NetMind, the neosentience that was the guardian and librarian of the Net, the Obsidian archive was a backup in case the PsyNet ever suffered a catastrophic failure.

The Ghost had named it Obsidian because the complexity of data within it made it all but a wall of black. Only a rare few individuals had ever realized the Obsidian archive existed. Even fewer knew how to access it. So, Kaleb maybe not Ghost? I believe that Ghost is male, since the cover have man on it. So, its can be Kaleb, can be Vasic, can be Aden. OR a new person we never know of?

And I think this one will feature Psy-Psy couple, yay! Official Blurb will be revealed in March ! Blurb is up! Ugh, this blurb is not explain anything. But the hero become Ghost is true and still hold possibilities between Kaleb or Vasic. And the heroine might be Alice. I mean, she had been comatose for a long time, right?

All leading up to book 12 that will absolutely, positively, blow. First, it's rare that you'll find a series that gets better with each new book. I read a lot of PNR, and I can count the authors that have been able to do th "Don't be afraid of me.

I read a lot of PNR, and I can count the authors that have been able to do that on one hand. Nalini Singh is one of those authors.

I have had my suspicions about this book, some have been true, some I was completely off on. What I do know, is that this book was I will not leave a full review, as I don't think I'll be able to do so without giving something away about HIM. I will say this: The writing: The love story: "Why are you holding me? The plot: And Nalini Singh View all 19 comments. Shelves: paranormal-romance , favorites.

Beautiful love story! NO spoilers Avoid 'spoilery' reviews and just read the book! Discovering the answers as you read is a rewarding experience. All you need to know is Friendship, Loyalty, Kindness, and Love save the characters from devastation.

Psy romances don't really excite me changelings rock my world and I wasn't too eager for this book, BUT I loved the hero, heroine, setting, conflict, storytelling It also didn't hurt that it contained one of my favorite tropes.

Not Beautiful love story! Not telling in this review. It's not a story to be missed. Nalini Singh will keep you coming back for more after you read Heart of Obsidian. Well, of course, I'm not going to tell you! I will tell you a few things.

First off let me just say that Nalini Singh can write like no other. I was blown away by how she wrote Kaleb and Sahara. Granted, she's written a few other good characters I was a little hesitant about how two Psys would 4. I was a little hesitant about how two Psys would work being together and having any type of passion but believe me, you don't have to worry about that. Both Kaleb and Sahara have had issues in the past that they've had to overcome and if you've been reading all the books in the series, you know how powerful Kaleb is and NS does not have weak heroines.

Top that off with Kaleb and Sahara being childhood friends and you get a deeply emotional tie that defies Silence. I do have to say that I did have a bit of a hard time with Kaleb. I knew he would be harder to warm up to than Judd I just didn't realize how much. Black Ice is such an accurate term but I loved how he was being affected and what would happen! Sahara was wonderful I liked her right from the get-go.

Reading about how she treated Kaleb as a child just warmed my heart! The charms were one of my favorite parts and I loved all the stories behind them Even though Kaleb and Sahara knew each other growing up and had feelings for each other, you can feel them falling even more in love.

It did make me laugh when Kaleb lost a bit of control but I also loved seeing Sahara experiencing things. The "educational" videos were a hoot and just sooo something Kaleb would do. There is a lot of history to go through and we do get to read about Sahara's family and her becoming friends with some of the other characters we already know.

There are some really sweet scenes and one of my favorites that calls her "little sister". I loved that! I wished we had gotten more scene time from more characters but there really wasn't enough time. Of course, there's all kinds of drama with the Pure Psy I really liked seeing all the Psy, Changeling and Humans working together.

It will be interesting to see where things go from here. I'm not sure if anything will happen or not. It will be interesting to see where it goes from here and who the next book will be about!

And that question that I mentioned in the beginning But I'm still not telling you!! View all 37 comments. Jun 03, Jen Davis rated it it was amazing. Move over Kiss of Snow. As much as I loved that book, Heart of Obsidian is even better. Easily and completely my new favorite in the Psy-Changeling series. I'm going to try very hard not to spoil the story beyond a basic set-up, but I am going to mention the hero and heroine by name, so beware.

Kaleb Krychek has been this powerful enigma ever since the series began. He is cold and calculating. But there is a fire under that ice that is positively molten. He has led a life shaped by cruelty at the Move over Kiss of Snow. He has led a life shaped by cruelty at the hands of his mentor. He was brutalized. He never knew love or loyalty, until he met Sahara Nightstar.

As children, they became the best of friends. She was his one solace He has spent the past seven years searching for her. And now that he has her back, he will never let her go again. There is so much passion and emotion in this book. Kaleb's devotion to Sahara is so complete, so unbreakable, it's breathtaking. He is willing to do anything --give anything-- be anything-- for this fragile, abused woman.

He would burn the world for her, and, frankly, he has the power to do it. His memories of her have shaped his entire life. Meanwhile, she has no memory of him at all. Years of torture have robbed her of so much, yet she knows him on a visceral level. She trusts him; she is drawn to him.
